These are some but not all of the classic artists you asked for,( no blues included), covering the period 1900-60 good luck.|||That's a really simple question with a very complex answer for something as dynamic as jazz history. If youre going as far back as 1900 you're talking roots, so if you're interested in some really old **** then you're looking for Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Benny Goodman, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Thelonius Monk... The list is pretty damn huge, you're basically specifying the birth of jazz and improvisation.|||Miles, Coltrane...the list goes on.
