What is the proper wear for ballet and jazz?

I am starting a ballet and jazz class and I need to know what to wear so if I have to buy anything I will have time to.|||For ballet: At any reputable dance studio, they'll want you in a black or solid color leotard, pink dance tights, with ballet shoes, but it depends on how strict your studio is about colors, etc. NO UNDERWEAR OR THONGS. Wear your hair in a tight bun and maybe even wear a sports bra if you need to.

you can go to discountdance.com they have good prices or dancewearsolutions.com

for jazz:Unlike ballet you can wear more of what you want..depending on how strict your studio is, check dress code though. any color tights are good, nude is most popular...invest in spandex shorts/dance booty shorts! they are awesome and comfortable :) .I think they have them in alot of colors . Being in a leo gives you the most free movement, although sports bras and a shirt isn't bad either. Hair wise..to be safest stay with a ballet bun, your hair stays out of the way and you don't have to keep messing with it. another way to spice up your outfit is colored scrunchies to match those bright colored spandex. jazz shoes are most comfortable for new jazz dancers, although you can sometimes wear those foot undiez.|||For both ballet and jazz, if the school you're going to has a dress code for them, then you follow it. If not, then for Ballet:

- Dark coloured leotard, preferably black and plain with no cutouts/mesh/lace etc.

- Pink ballet tights. No regular tights from stores like Target or anything, they're too thin for dance.

- Pink leather full sole ballet shoes. Leather full soles help work your foot and build strength. Canvas and split soles are for advanced dancers.

- Legwarmers are optional if allowed and only for warm up in the winter.

- If you don't have a dress code you could wear a short ballet skirt. You could do shorts too, but I don't really like them in ballet over leotards.

- NO underwear! If you must have one, wear a bra the same colour as your leo or a nude dance bra.

- Hair up. Preferably in a bun.

For jazz if there's no dress code:

- Form fitting dance top or leotard with booty shorts/dance pants

- Tan tights. (Once again dance tights, not regular tights)

- Jazz shoes. Usually black and split-soled. Tie or slip on.

- Hair in a ponytail.

-Sports bra.|||Some studios (most actually) have dress codes for different types of classes.

Although, if you don't these are some of the things i suggest:

Ballet:

* Black or dark colored leotard

*Wrap around ballet skirt (optional)

*Pink tights (not ripped!)

*Ballet shoes

-canvas or leather

*Pointe shoes? (if you take pointe classes)

*Leg warmers... optional but cute(:

Jazz:

*Leotard or cami

*booty shorts

*Jazz shoes

*pink or tan tights

Extra things you may need:

* Bun holder

*sports bra

*water bottle

*dance bag

I've never taken jazz before so i'm not sure about that one!

Good luck %26amp; have fun at your classes!(:|||Ballet:

- pink tights

- leotard (a safe choice is black but you may want to check what color is required for your level)

- ballet slippers ( full sole leather is best for beginners)

- and make sure your hair is in a bun

Jazz:

- you may wear a leotard and/or tights underneath, it usually doesn't matter.

- a fitted tank top ( NOT baggy!)

- jazz shorts (spandax shorts) or jazz pants

- black jazz shoes ( there are tan ones but studios usually like black ones!)

Here's a website where you can find all this:

http://www.dancewearsolutions.com/defaul鈥?/a>|||Usually you'll wear a leotard with an option of tights. I suggest tights in the winter, because it can get really cold! Hair is always out of your face! You'll also need tan or black jazz shoes, and pink ballet shoes. I also suggest looking in to you're school's website to find the exact dress code, because I may be wrong. Hope I helped!|||For a class, you usually just need the right shoes (ballet shoes and jazz shoes) and something comfortable, such as sweat pants and a t-shirt. If you are unsure what to wear, the best idea is probably to ask the instructor or another student in those classes.|||this (http://www.balletoostende.be/node/339) is ideal for ballet. For jazz you should have a legging, like this: http://www.balletoostende.be/node/350 or with a shirt like this: http://www.balletoostende.be/node/343

I've practiced the two ;)|||If no dress code, I suggest

Ballet:

black leotard and pink tights

ballet slippers

hair in bun, etc as stated by others

Jazz:

either wear your black leotard and dance shorts of a tank top and dance shorts

hair out of your face, etc

Have fun!
