I want to know what is the concept
about the progressive chords,common scale used,etc
and how to improvise for jazz ballad
thx|||you must know--
chords
chord scales
chordal voicings
play as melodic as possible|||Well, the chords will depend on the tune, as well as the scales you can use. You need a lot of study and analyzing jazz tunes to get better at altering chords and licks for more interest, but I will tell you that, as far as improvising, its all about "milking" each lick as much as you can. When you play a 3-4 note long lick, play it going up in whole steps, then turn it backwards and start bringing it back down. Maybe play it on all sorts of different beats and off beats, play it on every beat, then the and of every beat, then some on beat some off. The point is, chords last a long time in ballads, so in order to fill all that time, you need to do as much with a single idea as you can. Scales and chords though, that's years worth of study to answer that part of the question. You should find someone to ask in person.|||learn some theory, which you cannot do on an online message board/answers website (very effectively). Take a class, or maybe some youtube tutorials (just make sure you don't get any crappy ones, check the comments to see what people generally think about the video).
